Sinopse: A história é situada em Shieldlands, um lugar mítico onde vivem humanos e criaturas fantásticas. Beowulf é um mercenário que volta à cidade de Herot para honrar o falecido Barão Hrothgar, o homem que o criou. Mas, ao chegar ao local, ele é atacado pelo terrível monstro Grendl. Ao eliminá-lo, Beowulf cai nas graças da Baronesa Rheda e da comunidade.
